App Privacy Policy

This App Privacy Policy is meant to help you understand what data we collect when you use the PAH Risk Score Calculators mobile application (“App”), why we collect it, and what we do with it.  This is important; we hope you will take the time to read it carefully.

You also are responsible for ensuring that any other person whose personal information is made available in connection with use of the App has been provided a copy of this privacy notice, and “you” refers to each of the user and each such person.

This policy may change from time to time, so please check back often. If you have any questions or comments regarding this Privacy Policy, please contact us.

I. COLLECTION OF INFORMATION

The information we collect varies based on how you use the App. We may collect the following categories of information when you use the App: 

  • Information we collect automatically. When you access the application, we may automatically collect:
    • Information collected by Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. Google Analytics uses Cookies to analyze use patterns and may collect information about your use of the website, including your IP address. More information on Google Analytics can be found here: www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners/.
    • Information from the devices that you use, including your device type; unique device identifiers; Internet protocol (IP) address; operating system; time zone setting and location; the geographical area where you use the App (such as the country and city), the dates and times of your usage; and other information about how you use the application. For example, if you or your device experiences an error, we may collect information about the error, the time the error occurred, the feature being used, the state of the application when the error occurred, and any communications or content provided at the time the error occurred.
  • Third Parties. We may also collect information from other publicly and commercially available sources and combine it with data collected through the App. 

We may aggregate or de-identify the information described above. When information is de-identified, your name, contact information, and other information that could be used to identify you are removed. This de-identified data is not personal information because it cannot be linked to you or used to identify you. Aggregated or de-identified data is not subject to this Privacy Policy.

II. USE OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

We use the personal information we collect:

  • To provide you with services. This includes providing you with the products, information, and services that you request from us and the features that you choose to use.
  • To analyze use of and personalize our services. We analyze the use of our services, such as to improve the App and our products and to ensure that content is presented in the most relevant and effective manner for you and for your device; and to administer the App. 
  • For legal purposes and promotion of safety and security. We use personal information to comply with applicable laws and regulations and to protect or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims and to keep the App, business, and users safe and secure.
  • For any other purposes disclosed to you. We may use your information for any other purposes disclosed to you at the time we collect your information or with your consent.

III. DISCLOSURE OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

We will not share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes. However, may share personal information with third parties for certain business purposes, such as:

  • Authorized third-party service providers. Your information may be accessible to third parties that provide services, such as those involved in developing, maintaining, and hosting the application; security and performance monitoring; and data processing.
  • Corporate affiliates. Information may be shared with corporate affiliates.
  • Business transfers. We may share your information in connection with a substantial corporate transaction, such as the sale of a website, a merger, consolidation, asset sale, initial public offering, or in the unlikely event of bankruptcy.
  • Legal purposes. Information may be disclosed to respond to subpoenas, court orders, legal process, law enforcement or public health requests, regulators, legal claims, or government inquiries; to protect and defend the rights, interests, safety, and security of United Therapeutics Corporation, its affiliates, third-party service providers, users, or the public, and as otherwise permitted by law.
  • With your consent or authorization. Your information may be shared for any other purposes disclosed to you at the time of collection or pursuant to your consent. 

We also may share information that does not identify you with third parties, such as aggregated information or de-identified data. For example, we may disclose the number of users of our App. Aggregated or de-identified data is not subject to this Privacy Policy.

IV. DATA SECURITY

While we have implemented security measures to help protect your information, you should understand that no data storage system or transmission of data over the Internet or any other public network can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee that such information will never be accessed, used, or released in a manner that is inconsistent with this policy. It is important to remember that to protect against unauthorized access to your mobile device, it is your responsibility to maintain the confidentiality of your passwords. Please note that information collected by third parties may not have the same security protections as information you submit to us, and your data will be protected under their standards when such data is shared.

We retain this information for as long as necessary to fulfill the specific business purposes identified in this Privacy Policy unless otherwise required or permitted by applicable law.

V. YOUR CHOICES

You may be entitled, in accordance with applicable law, to object to or request restriction of processing of your information, and to request access to, rectification, erasure, and portability of your information or more information about our information practices. Requests should be submitted by contacting us at privacyofficer@unither.com. If you become aware of changes or inaccuracies in your information, you should inform us of such changes so that the information may be updated or corrected. Once we receive your request, we will verify it by attempting to associate the information you provide with information that has been collected. It may be necessary to request additional personal information from you to process a request.

You may be able to control our collection and use of your information through the application permission options, and through your mobile device or app settings. You may also be able to reset certain mobile device identifiers through the “Settings” on your mobile device. You also may stop further data collection by removing the application from your mobile device.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights and choices, although some of the functionality and features available on the App may change or no longer be available to you.

VII. SAFEGUARDING CHILDREN’S PRIVACY

United Therapeutics Corporation does not knowingly collect personal information or other identifying data from children under thirteen (13) years of age unless permitted by law. Should a child whom we know to be under thirteen (13) years of age send personal information to this application, we will immediately delete that information from our database.

VIII. CHANGES AND QUESTIONS

We may change this Privacy Policy. If we decide to do so, we will notify you of any material changes by posting those changes here.
